Compatible cars and coverage
The OBD-X1 works with cars and light commercial vehicles that use K-line or CAN, which covers the vast majority of cars from 2004 on. As well as the standard OBD line, it also connects to the second diagnostic lines of makes such as Peugeot, Citroën, Ford, Fiat, Opel and Jeep. Trucks and buses aren't supported.
By make
| Make | What is read | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Renault, Dacia | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, body and instrument cluster modules | On the Clio II, Clio Symbol (before 2008) and Logan I / Sandero I, the instrument cluster has no diagnostic line, so the odometer mileage isn't read. On some electric models from 2024 on and on the new Master, only the modules on the Ethernet line aren't read. |
| Nissan | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster and body modules | — |
| Peugeot, Citroën, DS | Engine, transmission, body computer (BSI), instrument cluster, ABS, airbag; including the second diagnostic line. The Fiat-based Bipper and Nemo are read like the Fiat Fiorino | On models from before about 2006 (206, 307, 407), only a limited set of modules is read. |
| Opel | Models from 2017 on (Corsa F, Mokka B, Crossland, Grandland, Combo E, Astra L): as on Peugeot and Citroën. GM-era models (Astra H/J/K, Corsa D/E, Insignia, Zafira, Meriva B, Mokka): engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster and body modules; including the single-wire CAN line. The Fiat-based Combo D is read like the Fiat Doblo | On older models such as the Astra G and Corsa C, only a limited set of modules is read. |
| Fiat | Egea, Tipo, 500L and 500X: all modules. Fiorino, Doblo (2010–2022), Grande Punto, Punto Evo, 500 and Ducato (from 2011): engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster and body modules; including the maker's separate diagnostic lines | On the Albea, Palio, Linea, Doblo I, older Punto and Bravo, the engine is read; ABS, airbag and the instrument cluster may not be. |
| Ford | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster and body modules; including the second diagnostic line | The Focus I, Mondeo III and the Transit from before about 2006 aren't supported, because they use a different protocol (J1850). |
| Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Cupra | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster; over K-line on older models | On some models from 2024 on, the gateway may restrict access to some modules. |
| Mercedes-Benz | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster; on models such as the W203 C-Class and older Vito, the engine over K-line | On the C, E and S-Class, GLC, EQE and EQS from 2021 on, diagnostics run only over Ethernet; the legally required OBD data is read, the odometer mileage isn't. |
| BMW, MINI | Engine, transmission, instrument cluster and body modules | On some models from 2024 on, the odometer mileage may not be read. |
| Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Mazda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Subaru | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag and other modules; over K-line on older models | — |
| Hyundai, Kia | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster; including CAN FD on newer models | — |
| Volvo | Engine, transmission, ABS; on 2005–2016 models, the instrument cluster | On models from 2017 on (XC90, XC60, XC40, S60, V60), the instrument cluster and body module are only on Ethernet, so they aren't read. |
| Land Rover, Jaguar | Engine, transmission and the legally required OBD data | On models from 2017 on, the instrument cluster and body module are only on Ethernet, so they aren't read. |
| Jeep | Engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, instrument cluster and body modules | — |
| Electric and newer makes (BYD, MG, Chery, Togg) | Fault codes and module information | The modules read and the mileage source vary by make. |
| Tesla | — | Not supported. |
Light commercial vehicles are read as their make's row says: Transit, Custom and Courier (Ford); Trafic and Master (Renault); Ducato and Doblo (Fiat); Transporter and Crafter (Volkswagen); Sprinter and Vito (Mercedes-Benz).
Vehicles that aren't supported
- Trucks and buses: the J1939 protocol and a 24 V electrical system. Light commercial versions with a 24 V electrical system (e.g. some Isuzu N-Series) aren't supported either.
- Tesla: diagnostics run only over Ethernet.
- Ford and GM vehicles built for the US market before 2008 (the J1850 protocol).
- Vehicles from before about 2000 without a standard OBD socket.
- Motorcycles.
On newer cars
On some newer cars, some of the modules only answer over Ethernet diagnostics (DoIP): Mercedes-Benz from 2021 on, Volvo, Land Rover and Jaguar from 2017 on, and some models from 2024 on. On these cars the legally required OBD data (VIN, engine data, fault codes) is read; only the modules on that line aren't.
Note
This table is the expected coverage. The modules and information that can be read may vary with the car's year, engine and equipment. The mileage comparison is made on cars where the modules that keep a mileage record can be reached.
